Fuel filter replacement on 200HP Mercury Outboard Engine

Does anyone know if there is anything tricky to replacing the fuel filter on a 200HP Mercury Outboard engine? I know the fuel filter is a special Mercury part but is there anything special about taking it off, maybe priming it, etc? I can't find any literature from Mercury describing how to do this.

Thanks,

TomFuel filter replacement on 200HP Mercury Outboard EngineThere is nothing special about changing the fuel filter on your engine.

You do it the same as you would your oil filter.Remember to put a little oil on the sealing ring when you install the new filter so you can remove

it next time. You do not say what year the motor is.If it is newer you will

also need to install the water sensor in the bottom.Remove the sensor

from the old filter and install it in the new one,but make sure you do not

over tighten it because they break very easily.Good luck.Fuel filter replacement on 200HP Mercury Outboard EngineTry joining the %26quot;iboats.com%26quot; free forum and post this question. All of us get great info from this site. I rebuilt my 150 hp Mercury 1977 thru this webpage and they also sell parts much more reasonable than the dealers. To ask the question properly, have the serial number off your motor so that they can refer you to the exact info. I've always installed my own autoparts store %26quot;filter%26quot; in the fuel line where I can get to it easily. Then just squeeze the fuel line bulb until it's hard and the fuel filter should be full. Good luck.
