Is there a special tool to release the fuel filter on my 2001 Ford Escape?

It has an in-line filter and appears to have quick release hoses on either side. Has anybody ever used this tool and will the fuel pour out of the line when I disconnect it?

How much do you suppose one of these special tools cost?Is there a special tool to release the fuel filter on my 2001 Ford Escape? You can use a pair of pliers to release the fittings. You can also rent a tool from AutoZone.

Good Luck

The circular set is called %26quot; AC/ Fuel Line Disconnect Tool Set %26quot; part # 37000, you can purchase it at O'Reilly auto parts store. AutoZone will have the tool also but different part number. Is there a special tool to release the fuel filter on my 2001 Ford Escape?I had a Ford Ranger that was a 2000...and if they are similar then yes. I can't remember what the tool is called, but it is a plastic ring that slides over the fuel line and into the clip that holds the filter in place. The tool is cheap, its part of a set, and can be found at any autoparts store. Just tell them you need a fuel filter tool set. That is what I did.Is there a special tool to release the fuel filter on my 2001 Ford Escape?you cannot use pliers don't do it the only way to get them off is a fuel line disconnect tool i use a metal one i bought at auto zone you can get the plastic ones when using push the hoses together and twist the tool all the way in than pull apart it may take a few tries we call theses quick connects they are not quick disconnects is far as will fuel leak out yep to minimize only pull first hose 1\2 way off than do 2ND also relieve pressure in the line there is a thing on the fuel rail that looks like a tire valve push the button to relive fuel press
