How safe for a temporay measure only is the taping of a fuel ,diesel ,pipe to the fuel filter?

The brass screw broke with me while trying to unscrew the fuel filter in order to fit a new one.Another question is,why is this screw in brass, has to be a reason I am sure. They are expensive to replace, partly the error for braking was i overtightened the screw.

Hope someone will help me on these two points, especially the main question.

Thank you.How safe for a temporay measure only is the taping of a fuel ,diesel ,pipe to the fuel filter? It's made of brass because is a very stable alloy. It copes very well with hot and cold, doesn't rust and doesn't break down in the presence of fuel, oil or lubricants. You could tape it up but i doubt it would be very effective. Don't forget that diesel is an oil, and oil and tape don't go together. It won't do any harm but would probably leak badly. Best to get it replaced. How safe for a temporay measure only is the taping of a fuel ,diesel ,pipe to the fuel filter?I always replace my fuel filter clamps with jubilee clips as they are stronger and tighter than the original which normally the manufacturer has a specialist tool for. Just tape it as a temporary measure until you can get some small jubilee clips from a DIY store and fit these before you drive. How safe for a temporay measure only is the taping of a fuel ,diesel ,pipe to the fuel filter?Diesel's practically impossible to light outside of a high compression environment , so there's no hazard to you. Just consider the amount of diesel that's coming out (have a look when the pumps running) and think about the slipping danger for any motorbikes. Plus the cost! How safe for a temporay measure only is the taping of a fuel ,diesel ,pipe to the fuel filter?Tape is not a good idea because diesel in the fuel lines in pressurised and will come off in no time. I would not risk it even though it is not as flammable as petrol, try and find a more secure method.

Have you replaced the filter only you never mentioned in your question, jubilee clips would be a more secure method. How safe for a temporay measure only is the taping of a fuel ,diesel ,pipe to the fuel filter?it will suck air and not run using tapeHow safe for a temporay measure only is the taping of a fuel ,diesel ,pipe to the fuel filter?I'm afraid it won't work. First of all the tape will be attacked by the diesel and secondly it will not seal tightly enough to prevent air being entrained. How safe for a temporay measure only is the taping of a fuel ,diesel ,pipe to the fuel filter?I don't know about the brass screw but petroleum fuel is a solvent to the adhesive on all tapes that I know of. Replace your clamps before driving or you might well go up in flames. How safe for a temporay measure only is the taping of a fuel ,diesel ,pipe to the fuel filter?A permanent pipe connector called a Sea Green connector is what you want.it is a fairly thick and stiff plastic and supplied with two nuts which are tapered inside and has a large screw thread ;,the nut is screwed on to the pipe and compresses it,I have never heard of one fail. How safe for a temporay measure only is the taping of a fuel ,diesel ,pipe to the fuel filter?tape will be useless as diesel is pumped under pressure and vehicle will not run properly as it will suck air
